What this viewer checks
JPEG files can contain EXIF, XMP, IPTC, and comment segments. HEIC files use a different container; this tool reads supported EXIF fields from them. In both formats it shows GPS coordinates, camera make and model, and capture date when available.
“Not found” means the checked field was not present or could not be read in the standard location. It does not prove that no other metadata or identifying pixels exist. A photo can reveal a location through visible signs, faces, reflections, or landmarks even when GPS is absent.
How to read the results
- GPS coordinates: a latitude and longitude embedded in EXIF. They may pinpoint where a photo was taken.
- Camera / device: a make and model string, when the camera wrote one.
- Date taken: the camera's recorded time, which may differ from the file's current modification date.
- Extra metadata: a count of common JPEG segments or readable HEIC EXIF tags; either may carry more information than the fields shown here.
